Never ever, ever trust a man to do your business.
Today the carpet cleaner arrived, he arrived an hour and a half late, high as a kite and I knew that he was the type you oughta watch and make sure they get the job done. But since my day had already been postponed I decided that I could turn over the very hard, intense, being nice and trying to get the job done task over to my dear, sweet, lovely hubby since we both share the same desire of a beautiful carpet and getting 'your monies worth' dream... Or so I had thought.
After making it so that I gave the carpet floor 8 hr plus to dry, I come back home to find that my dreams were crushed. I had spent 40$ and wore myself out for over 8 hrs. to come home to a 'mopped' carpet. I know, I know I did say that you can't mop a carpet in my earlier post but I was proven wrong.
Now if you've ever seen a 'mopped' carpet you'd be very devastated with the result. It's a watered carpet with a vacuumed look. The guy didn't move the couches, but hey that's ok it was clean under there.. but he didn't even move the table, it's light I can move it ... in fact I did moved it to one side all he had to do was move it to the other side and clean, not to mention areas that didn't even get touched by his soggy attempts to clean. Devastated I look at my hubby and asked him if he even watched what the guy did. His reply just made my body shudder in anger, he decided to go back to bed and let the man work. Arrgh was I angry. I still am.. but I don't know at who, the carpet cleaner guy or my hubby.
All that to say never entrust your money or carpet to a man, at least not to the men mentioned above. LOL!!

Paranoid about...
Carpets... I hate them!!! I just spent an hour going around my little apartment tackling all the little spots, so that when the carpet 'cleaners' arrive I'd be sure the job was done.
Ugh, I just hate carpets, did I mention that before?? I hate them!! The filthiest invention ever made.. most people mop their floors every night. Can you do that to a carpet?? Not really.
The shivers that climb up my spine just thinking of the filth collected on the base of my carpeted floor, all the bacteria, pests ... ooooo maggots, beneath my carpet floor. Ack, the nightmare.. Mommy I'm scared!!
Ok back to cleaning... A laters!

Cancer update -- Johns Hopkins -- Cancer News from Johns Hopkins:
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.
Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Ma nager at CastleHospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.
He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. cover food with a paper towel instead.
This is an article that should be given to anyone important in your life!
I did my 'good deed' for the day.. heh! So ya'll out there take heed and beware!!!!
I love you guys too much to see you make stupid mistakes that will cost you and others thier lives!
Muah, smoochies, droodles and all!

In-Laws
There is nothing scarier then an in-law you've never met. Oh well, at least for me...
The worries, the concerns, the fears.. Oh my God, someone please make me stop thinking. I get all stressed out, and for what?? Man, I need a brain implant.
I guess it's the added pressure of wanting to get along.. I don't know, really who cares. You do or you don't. I guess it's different with family.
I'm sorta looking forward to it, yet I have this pending doom in the back of my mind.
Well, I'll keep ya posted and let you know how it went.

Siblings
Today I watched 'In Her Shoes', I thought it was a sweet little movie. I can't say I can relate to it much, but one thing is for sure we are a tight family.
I loved growing up in my ever expanding family, quiet proud of it actually. So proud that every New Years Eve when we'd hold this ceremony known as the 'Candle Light Service', we'd all wish for a new baby brother or sister (that depends on what side you were on in battle of the sexes). Yep! And my mom ended up with 10 of us.
We were and still are a rowdy bunch, the talk of the small town and an ever expanding family... No, not by means of my mother, she reluctantly passed the torch on to us.
Life had it's funny turns of events, things didn't end as a 'happy' family was supposed to, but I still treasure each and every one of my siblings, they all hold a special place in my heart and I know things will be okay because.. Hey, we're family.
It's funny how much easier it is to forgive your own family, find excuses for them and truly want to help them. It's funny how you can't live with or without them. It's funny how a little thing can spur things into action, and how easily things will calm down.
I miss our crazy bunch! But I'm glad I'm over here.. nana nana nana
Man... I need a scanner!

Belly dancing
Guy friend: "So girls, were are you going tonight"
Me: "Out.. Ladies night." With an assertive smile
Guy friend: "Yeah... but were?"
Girlfriend: "Oh we're going to watch some belly dancers."
Here I start feeling a little uncomfortable, giggle and scratch the back of my neck... knowing what would come next.
Guy friend with a quizzical, stumped look in his face: "What do you mean belly dancers? You girls are going to go out to watch girls dance, like a strip club.. why would you want to do that, are you gay?"
Me: "Heh heh, no we're not gay... "
Girlfriend: "Actually belly dancing is not supposed to be thought of in that way."
Guy friend: "No, what do you mean..."
Girlfriend interrupts to explain the history of belly dancers and it origins.
I too did not have a clear knowledge of the role belly dancer/ing held in history, I had many misconceptions of who they were and what they did. So I thought that today would be a great day for a little history, enjoy:

P.S: I did have a video clip of that fun night out... I still haven't figured this blog thing out, so berry berry sorry

Ramblings of the mind..
Mediterranean Sea,
I hear you beckoning me
Waves washing ashore
Your soft voice, your hushing lull.
Reluctant thoughts stroll by
I miss the warmth of the sun,
of days careless and free
Rolling sand between my fingers,
Feet tickled by the rising tide.
Here I stand gazing out my 'window'
memories fading of my time spent at sea
In a world not for me,
forced by fate to sit and wait.
Life passes painfully in slow motion
While my head spins and never rests.
Timeless mind, how fast it goes
Fastforwarding mentally as if plans
for the future would collide
with the reality of today.

A little of our crazy world..

Here is a little bit of Albania for you.
You gotta give it to them when it comes to making the best of an odd situation. As we say: "Where there is a will, there is a way."

Heh, never thought of doing that.

And here is one Tough Grandma.. bet ur Granny can't do that.
As crazy as this country is, I love it!
