Adorable....

I have always sat and wondered how my kids would look as they aged to the golden ripe old age of 70. I no longer have to wonder... I present them to you:

Disclaimer: these faces in no way reflect the beauty of the parents, we shall blame it all on the uncles, of whom we shall post pics of in the defence of the lovely parents.. shortly.

And life goes on..

It's funny how the more you have to say the least you want too. At least that's the way it goes for me. I've neglected my blog site for awhile now, not for lack of things to say. It' s just a lack of words to describe what needs to be said.
So another year has passed me by, I'm a year older, but the wisdom hasn't kicked in yet.. although counting the white hairs on my head, I should be one of the wisest 27 year olds around.
This has been one of the most amazing years I've had, it's funny how so much can happen in a short span of time. Life has tossed us back and forth, hurtled us around, scared the daylights out of us and gently placed us back on our feet. Even though my head is still spinning from all the shaking and tossing about, it's nice to know that there is some peace at the end.

This is were I want to be before my 28th year:

Home sweet Home

Hyperactivity?!!

While reading an article today on ADHD, I realized that some people just like to blame their child's 'problem' on some illness, which in reality isn't an illness or a problem. For most cases of ADHD the child is being simply just that, a child!!
In the article it stated that the children in question were out of control during the summer break and how the parents 40 and 50 years of age couldn't keep up. How these parents have opted for Summer Camp to coop with the situation-- as summer camp, much like school, provided structure and a rigid schedule.
My question is this, what are people doing having kids at such a late age when really they can't keep up with the these so-called hyperactive kids??
News Flash!! Kids bounce off walls, kids don't sit still, kids love to play, kids need a schedule, kids need attention, kids fidget, kids scribble on walls, kids love being in action!!
While there are some kids that do have ADHD, it seems to be a growing problem. Its astonishing how many kids will be labeled with ADHD and drugged because- OH MY, they are ALIVE!!!
Kids aren't supposed to be cute little things sitting quietly on the couch waiting for their parent when their parent has time for them. Kids aren't supposed to behave as saints with halos with that dead look in their eyes.
When I imagine my kids I imagine them happy, cheerful, jumping, doing their crazy things, exploring, curious. I never once imagine them dormant. And really those ADHD drugs, what do they do?- Turn children into little vegetables, lifeless beings.
Seriously if people wanted a doll, that's what they should have bought. Forget having a child if you can't handle their spirit, their life and their laughter.

Interesting thought

At a concert in California, devotional singer Krishna Das told a story of escorting his revered teachers, a frail old Indian couple, to an acupuncturist in New York. They had to walk through a neighborhood dominated by strip clubs, prostitutes, and drug dealers. Every few feet, a new salesperson approached with an offer of crack, weed, crank, or sexual adventures.

Krishna Das worried about subjecting his beloved guides to such a degrading experience, but they were unfazed. "This is heaven," said the woman. When a surprised Krishna Das asked what she meant, she replied, "Heaven is any place where one's needs can be met."

It's funny, odd, quirky .. but true, in a sense.

Angry MOM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 29, 2006

"A Tale of Two Nursing Moms"

Racine, WI – This Saturday, two moms are organizing a nationwide nurse-in of the popular lingerie store, Victoria's Secret. Prompted by run-ins with Victoria's Secret employees, Rebecca Cook, of Burlington, WI and Jessie Chandler, of Quincy, MA have decided to do something about state and federal laws that do not protect nursing mothers.

On June 21, 2006, Rebecca Cook entered a Victoria's Secret store with a friend to browse through the sales racks. While in the store, Mrs. Cook's daughter wanted to nurse, so she went to the dressing room and asked for one. When a dressing room wasn't available, she said that she'd sit out of the way and nurse her daughter, and was told that she wasn't allowed to by a store employee, that she would have to use a restroom. After she refused to use a restroom to nurse her daughter, a dressing room opened up, and while she was in it, the two store employees were heard loudly discussing, right outside her dressing room, to make sure if there's an occupied sign that the dressing room is truly occupied and to get customers in and out of the dressing rooms as soon as possible. Mrs. Cook left the dressing room because of their rudeness, nursing her daughter on her way out of the store. When she called to complain to the store manager, she was told that the employee probably asked her to nurse in the restroom because the sight of her breasts might offend a customer. Taking the complaint of the treatment by the store manager to the corporate customer service wasn't any further help, because she was told that women are not allowed to try on clothing in the middle of the store, therefore they are not allowed to nurse in the middle of the sales floor.

In a similar incident, Jessie Chandler entered a Victoria's Secret store on June 22, 2006 to browse the sales racks as well, after feeding her daughter. A saleswoman approached her to welcome her to Victoria's Secret, and Mrs. Chandler asked to use a changing room. When asked by the sales associate if she was going to change her daughter's diaper, Mrs. Chandler said that she was going to nurse her, to which the sales associate replied with giving directions to the bathroom outside the store. Mrs. Chandler refused to use the bathroom, and the attendant said that it was unsanitary for her to nurse in the dressing room because people change in them. When Mrs. Chandler called the store manager, she received an apology. Mrs. Chandler called Victoria's Secret's corporate office after hearing of Mrs. Cook's experience with corporate's customer service, and was told that Mrs. Chandler's experience was an isolated experience and that she would have a letter of apology sent out to her.

This nurse-in is not about Victoria's Secret's lack of enforcing their company policy; the company only prompted the awareness for a need for state and federal protection for nursing mothers. The federal government has invested a lot of time and money into advertising about breastfeeding being the best nutrition for babies, but without federal protection, some moms might give up when they're told that breast milk is dirty and unsanitary. To make those federal dollars most effective, we have to protect and educate; protect a mother's right to nurse in public, and educate those that work with the public on the proper way to handle nursing in public and those that might complain about it.

"A Tale of Two Nursing Moms" seeks to bring recognition to the need for a federal law that protects a nursing mother's right to feed her baby anywhere that she and her baby would otherwise be allowed to be. We're urging moms to go to their local Victoria's Secret on July 1 at 1 pm to nurse their babies and be a part of this important movement."

What a bunch of retards, I wouldn't have just walked all over the store nursing my baby (something I did do, and am proud of doing)! I'm going to borrow a child on the1st of July.
I don't care, my boobs while in a child's mouth is FOOD. I am NOT ever going to nurse my child in the bathroom, I would have told the attendant to go eat her lunch in the bathroom.
It's amazing how society twists something natural into something perverse. To you PERVERTS, get OUT of MY WAY!!! For anyone that thinks nursing is something to hide, go hide your bottles because there is nothing more perverse then feeding a child with glass or plastic. (This statement excludes those that have a valid reason to bottle feed their child).

My profound thought...

Slipping through my fingers is the life once lived. Old ideas vanish, new ones forming.
Perspective changes, the heart never.
Standing alone, on the brink of time.. holding the hourglass waiting for the turn. Grain hitting on grain, dead silence, yet I hear the thunder.
Slowly turning.. topsy turvy, so my life is.
Changing with the passing of time, hitting the bottom of the hourglass not a pleasant sight.
And life goes on, one era ended in my small fraction of a lifetime, new one will begin.

Spanglish

So yeah, I'm a little late with the watching of 'Spanglish'. It hasent' really been on the top of my list and still isn't, but I had a question and have been mulling over it for a couple days now: Why in God's earth did he not touch the maid?!
My conclusion was this, maybe it was true love. I think that if you truely love a person you can touch without touching, but my thoughts apart.
Let's say if they did the deed, would it have marred something beautiful? Would it have defiled something perfect? Would that memory that had been burned into her heart, just been brushed off as a passionate event?
Or do you think that it would have been just as beautiful?
Yes I'm a romantic, and I know very few agree with how I look at love. I know that this is just a movie, I was just sitting here thinking of how I would have ended the movie if I were the director. Seriously, I don't know.

Trust Issues

Never ever, ever trust a man to do your business.
Today the carpet cleaner arrived, he arrived an hour and a half late, high as a kite and I knew that he was the type you oughta watch and make sure they get the job done. But since my day had already been postponed I decided that I could turn over the very hard, intense, being nice and trying to get the job done task over to my dear, sweet, lovely hubby since we both share the same desire of a beautiful carpet and getting 'your monies worth' dream... Or so I had thought.
After making it so that I gave the carpet floor 8 hr plus to dry, I come back home to find that my dreams were crushed. I had spent 40$ and wore myself out for over 8 hrs. to come home to a 'mopped' carpet. I know, I know I did say that you can't mop a carpet in my earlier post but I was proven wrong.
Now if you've ever seen a 'mopped' carpet you'd be very devastated with the result. It's a watered carpet with a vacuumed look. The guy didn't move the couches, but hey that's ok it was clean under there.. but he didn't even move the table, it's light I can move it ... in fact I did moved it to one side all he had to do was move it to the other side and clean, not to mention areas that didn't even get touched by his soggy attempts to clean. Devastated I look at my hubby and asked him if he even watched what the guy did. His reply just made my body shudder in anger, he decided to go back to bed and let the man work. Arrgh was I angry. I still am.. but I don't know at who, the carpet cleaner guy or my hubby.
All that to say never entrust your money or carpet to a man, at least not to the men mentioned above. LOL!!

Paranoid about...

Carpets... I hate them!!! I just spent an hour going around my little apartment tackling all the little spots, so that when the carpet 'cleaners' arrive I'd be sure the job was done.
Ugh, I just hate carpets, did I mention that before?? I hate them!! The filthiest invention ever made.. most people mop their floors every night. Can you do that to a carpet?? Not really.
The shivers that climb up my spine just thinking of the filth collected on the base of my carpeted floor, all the bacteria, pests ... ooooo maggots, beneath my carpet floor. Ack, the nightmare.. Mommy I'm scared!!
Ok back to cleaning... A laters!

Some sound adivce!

Cancer update -- Johns Hopkins -- Cancer News from Johns Hopkins:

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.

Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Ma nager at CastleHospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. cover food with a paper towel instead.

In-Laws

There is nothing scarier then an in-law you've never met. Oh well, at least for me...
The worries, the concerns, the fears.. Oh my God, someone please make me stop thinking. I get all stressed out, and for what?? Man, I need a brain implant.
I guess it's the added pressure of wanting to get along.. I don't know, really who cares. You do or you don't. I guess it's different with family.
I'm sorta looking forward to it, yet I have this pending doom in the back of my mind.
Well, I'll keep ya posted and let you know how it went.

Siblings

Today I watched 'In Her Shoes', I thought it was a sweet little movie. I can't say I can relate to it much, but one thing is for sure we are a tight family.
I loved growing up in my ever expanding family, quiet proud of it actually. So proud that every New Years Eve when we'd hold this ceremony known as the 'Candle Light Service', we'd all wish for a new baby brother or sister (that depends on what side you were on in battle of the sexes). Yep! And my mom ended up with 10 of us.
We were and still are a rowdy bunch, the talk of the small town and an ever expanding family... No, not by means of my mother, she reluctantly passed the torch on to us.
Life had it's funny turns of events, things didn't end as a 'happy' family was supposed to, but I still treasure each and every one of my siblings, they all hold a special place in my heart and I know things will be okay because.. Hey, we're family.
It's funny how much easier it is to forgive your own family, find excuses for them and truly want to help them. It's funny how you can't live with or without them. It's funny how a little thing can spur things into action, and how easily things will calm down.
I miss our crazy bunch! But I'm glad I'm over here.. nana nana nana

Man... I need a scanner!

Belly dancing

Guy friend: "So girls, were are you going tonight"
Me: "Out.. Ladies night." With an assertive smile
Guy friend: "Yeah... but were?"
Girlfriend: "Oh we're going to watch some belly dancers."
Here I start feeling a little uncomfortable, giggle and scratch the back of my neck... knowing what would come next.
Guy friend with a quizzical, stumped look in his face: "What do you mean belly dancers? You girls are going to go out to watch girls dance, like a strip club.. why would you want to do that, are you gay?"
Me: "Heh heh, no we're not gay... "
Girlfriend: "Actually belly dancing is not supposed to be thought of in that way."
Guy friend: "No, what do you mean..."
Girlfriend interrupts to explain the history of belly dancers and it origins.

I too did not have a clear knowledge of the role belly dancer/ing held in history, I had many misconceptions of who they were and what they did. So I thought that today would be a great day for a little history, enjoy:

P.S: I did have a video clip of that fun night out... I still haven't figured this blog thing out, so berry berry sorry

Ramblings of the mind..

Mediterranean Sea,
I hear you beckoning me
Waves washing ashore
Your soft voice, your hushing lull.
Reluctant thoughts stroll by
I miss the warmth of the sun,
of days careless and free
Rolling sand between my fingers,
Feet tickled by the rising tide.
Here I stand gazing out my 'window'
memories fading of my time spent at sea
In a world not for me,
forced by fate to sit and wait.
Life passes painfully in slow motion
While my head spins and never rests.
Timeless mind, how fast it goes
Fastforwarding mentally as if plans
for the future would collide
with the reality of today.
